Founded in 1972 under the impetus of a pharmacist, Doctor Chabrand, Biolane was born from the desire to design sufficiently mild and natural products specific for the delicate skin of babies.
50 years on, our mission remains the same, to place all our expertise and pharmaceutical quality at the service of the well-being of babies, while helping their parents along the way.

Biolane’s mission is to help parents from the birth of their child, with a comprehensive, natural and safe hygiene and skincare range that they can trust in to protect their baby’s skin while protecting nature.

Our products are the fruit of 50 years’ hindsight into babies’ skin, produced in accordance with pharmaceutical quality standards.
We select the mildest active ingredients the most suitable for your baby’s skin, at the right dose, to offer you safe and minimalist formulas.
Their high-tolerance is approved by tests under dermatological or paediatric supervision.
This is why Biolane is recommended by Midwives & Pediatricians, and is present in 80% of maternity wards in France.
Naturalness
From the creation of Biolane, the naturalness of the formulas was at the centre of Dr Chabrand’s vision. Today, more than ever, our products are gentle for babies and gentle for the planet.
Natural or organic formulas with 95% of ingredients of natural origin on average.
Thanks to a demanding formulation charter and raw material testing, all our products are rated good to excellent on Yuka (number 1 ingredient screening application in France). Our formulas contain no harmful active ingredients.
Our products are designed and formulated in our laboratory in Vendée; and are manufactured in our factory for a greater safety.

1972-2022: Biolane has been alongside babies from their first instants of life for 50 years. 50 years’ existence, and millions of births and generations of parents who put their trust in us, and babies who in turn became parents themselves…

Biolane moments are all those daily moments, from birth, or whatever your baby’s requirements, Biolane is there at bath time, during the hygiene routine, for nappy care and skin care.
Biolane moments are also moments of complicity, on the journey into parenthood. Massaging baby to soothe them, burying your nose in their neck to breathe in their smell a hundred times over, laughing out loud during a fun bath but also sometimes feeling helpless faced with baby’s crying or asking yourself a bunch of questions before going to sleep, to only end up woken up in the morning by a cheeky smile!

1972-2022 … for its 50th birthday, Biolane gets a new look
Our identity is changing to highlight our underlying themes that are expertise, naturalness and softness, and which have guided 50 years of development.
A logo with a darker blue tone, text printed in a rounder shape and a symbol suggesting protection from nature: a baby jumping out of the box, leaving room for white and space…
Coloured shapes bring playfulness and warmth to Biolane products. These organic shapes suggest both naturalness, by their resemblance to large leaves, but also the cheekiness of childhood.
To clarify our offer, the range has been redesigned with a colour code. Blue for bathtime, pink for the hygiene routine, yellow for diaper change and green for the care routine.

With quality of the highest pharmaceutical standards, Biolane develops natural, high-tolerance, safe and minimalistic formulas. Our products only contain essential ingredients, at the right dosage, rigorously selected and approved by independent expert toxicologists.
We want to offer gentle products for your baby’s skin, while observing the three fundamental principles of our Biolane charter:

Formulation charter
Produced within a French company for added safety
At Biolane, our products are conceived, formulated and designed in our laboratory in Vendée. This organisation means our Quality teams are able to manage the manufacturing process end to end, from receipt of the raw materials to product release. Our products in development are submitted for laboratory tests to ensure the proper preservation and stability of the formulas on a permanent basis, which enables us to ensure their quality remains optimal throughout their shelf-life.
Formulas tested and controlled for your baby’s safety
Our specialist pharmacists from the R&D unit work closely with independent toxicology experts in order to develop formulas benefiting both from the latest scientific progress and the highest possible level of safety.
Therefore all our formulas are submitted for thorough safety testing. As they are carried out on sensitive skin, in real-life conditions and under the supervision of an independent paediatric dermatologist, they enable us to confirm the absence of toxicity from the ingredients used and to confirm that our products are safe.
The Biolane cosmetic monitoring procedure continues to ensure the safety of our formulas after marketing of our products and up to the products’ end of life.

- Cleansing agent: Lauryl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, coco-glucoside, calcium hydroxide
These cleansing active ingredients remove impurities on baby’s skin.
- Sanitiser: Zinc oxide
Zinc oxide is a natural antimicrobial agent. It also soothes irritated skin
- Soothing and repairing agent: Panthenol
Sometimes called pro-vitamin B5, panthenol promotes the regeneration of damaged skin.
- Nourishing agent: Olea europaea fruit oil (olive oil), butyrospermum parkii (Shea butter), helianthus annuus seed oil (sunflower seed oil), prunus amygdalus dulcis oil (sweet almond oil)
These natural active ingredients nourish the skin and strengthen the skin barrier.
- Moisturising agent: Cocodimonium hydroxypropyl hydrolysed wheat protein, glycerine
Natural moisturising agents, these active ingredients minimise skin drying and help keep babies’ skin soft.
- Stabiliser: Levulinic acid, sodium levulinate
Natural active ingredients which ensure our formula remains stable over time.
- Antioxidant: Tocopherol
An active ingredient equivalent to a form of vitamin E, tocopherol prevents our formula becoming altered in contact with the air.
- Chelating agent: Trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, sodium gluconate, gluconolactone
These chelating active ingredients ensure the formula remains stable over time.
- Preservative: Sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, sodium dehydroacetate, cetrimonium chloride, chlorhexidine digluconate, benzoic acid, o-cymen-5-ol, P-anisic acid
These ingredients are preservatives. They preserve the formula throughout product use.
- Emollient: Glycerol oleate, hydrogenated palm glycerides citrate, glyceryl caprylate, caprylic triglyceride, cocoglycerides, coco-caprylate, cetyl palmitate
Natural emollients, these active ingredients loosen and soften babies’ skin.
- Emulsifier: Cetearyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, stearic acid, sodium lauroyl glutamate, cetearyl olivate, sorbitan olivate, cetearyl alcohol, sorbitan caprylate, cetearyl glucoside, stearyl alcohol
These ingredients of fully natural origin facilitate the mixing of fatty and aqueous ingredients and are therefore used to homogenise the formula.
- Thickener: Carbomer, acrylate crosspolymer, xanthan gum
These active ingredients provide texture to the formula to make it easier to apply.
- Humectant: Propanediol, pentylene glycol, calcium gluconate
Humectants are used to maintain water in babies’ skin.
- pH regulator: Citric acid, sodium hydroxide
These natural active ingredients are used to adjust or stabilise the formula’s pH so that it is as close as possible to the pH of a baby’s skin.
- Solubiliser: Polysorbate 20
This active ingredient is used to promote the solubilisation of the formula’s ingredients and therefore contribute to its homogenisation
- Fragrance
Fragrance brings a sensory aspect to the product, with subtle olfactory notes, suitable for babies.

At Biolane, we like transparency. This is why our ranges have different certifications. They guarantee that our active ingredients are consistently produced according to ethical and environmentally friendly methods.
Cosmebio label
Imposes strict specifications on a list of cosmetic ingredients and guarantees a minimum of 95% of natural ingredients
Fair For Life label
Highlights and protects economically-, socially- and environmentally- responsible companies
FSC label
Requires the certified product to be made with at least 70% of fibres from FSC-certified forests
Towards ecologically responsible packaging
At Biolane, we are keen to reduce the environmental impact of our products as far as possible. This is why we prefer eco-designed packaging with recyclable bottles and packs, and cardboard packs from sustainably managed forests. We have been using bioplastic bottles and recycled tubes for all our new products since 2020.
2022 target: 100% environmentally friendly packaging
You can already recycle your Biolane products as follows:
- Recycling bin: plastic pump bottles, bottles with plastic cap and cardboard packs, tubes with plastic cap, nappy packaging bags and eco-refills
- Household waste: used nappies, used wipes, wipe packaging
